Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Gizmatic, Short Bytes, Broadband, CES, CES 2007, Features, HDTV, Home Entertainment, Videocasts,
VeriSign is throwing down the content delivery gauntlet with their Intelligent CDN technology. We are talking about full high definition video content streamed directly to your television at very high speeds. They show off a 200 MB file that is encoded at 5 mbps 1080p, which downloads completely in under 30 seconds. This is the kind of technology we hope to see on our set top boxes in the near future, and VeriSign is promising that it isn’t far away at all. Give it a view, and let us know what you think. Could both HD DVD and Blu-ray be dead in the water with tech like this soon to be available everywhere?

For $5, you get a 15 minute charge which results in a virtually full battery. We also spoke with someone who just left their BlackBerry in the unit, as security is an issue when dealing with expensive phones and handhelds.

It’s a PMP sporting a 30GB hard drive, 7-inch LCD display, with integrated WiFi. It has a docking station that has multiple inputs and outputs as well as an integrated DVD player, so you can both display the Unit2 content on a TV, but also send signals from your cable box or DVD player to the Unit2 wirelessly over 802.11n. They are even trying to incorporate point of interest into the device, so by way of the internet connection, you can find local restaurants. Even Internet radio is being considered. This device could be hot when released in the fourth quarter of 2007 - no pricing details have been released.

Portable Sound Laboratories makes the iMainGo, a portable iPod speaker and case. It runs on four AAA batteries, delivering up to 30 hours of power, and even has an alarm mode built right in to the unit. Aside from providing fairly decent sound on the go, it also protects the iPod from sratches and drop damage since it’s fairly thick. It fits every iPod ever made, and works across the board. Notice, they mention it will fit the new iPod that comes out in February. That’s this month. Nevertheless, the iMainGo is available for $69.95.
